Washington, D.C., – The Outdoor Recreation Roundtable (ORR) is pleased to announce the appointment of Cassandra L. Elrod as its new Program and Administrative Director. Elrod brings a wealth of experience in the outdoor recreation industry, legal expertise, and a deep passion for sustainability and outdoor recreation policy to the ORR team.

Her unique blend of legal expertise, project management skills, and passion for the outdoors will be invaluable as we continue to advocate for policies that enhance outdoor recreation opportunities across the nation. We look forward to the fresh insights and innovative approaches she will bring to our organization,” said Jessica Wahl Turner, President of ORR. 

Cassandra L. Elrod joins ORR from Outside Interactive, Inc., where she served as Commercial Counsel. During her tenure, she played a pivotal role in project management and legal support for the inaugural Outside Festival in June 2024. Her extensive experience in the outdoor recreation industry includes providing legal risk analysis and business expertise across various business streams, negotiating commercial agreements, and managing the intellectual property portfolio for over ten brands. 

As Program and Administrative Director, Elrod will work across ORR’s program areas, overseeing operations, communications, policy, programs, and events. She will coordinate ORR members and industry stakeholders to educate Congress, federal agencies, and state governments on policies aimed at enhancing outdoor recreation experiences and the quality of life for outdoor enthusiasts.

Elrod, newly appointed Program and Administrative Director of ORR. 

Elrod’s role will be instrumental in supporting ORR’s initiatives, including government relations, state-level education, communications, and Together Outdoors, as well as event coordination for key ORR meetings and forums. She will report to the Senior Vice President and Vice President of Programs. 

Elrod holds a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Indiana University Maurer School of Law and is currently pursuing a Masters in the Outdoor Recreation Economy from the University of Colorado Boulder, with a focus on leading a sustainable business and public lands and natural resources policy.
