Washington D.C. – Outdoor Recreation Roundtable (ORR) thanks the Biden-Harris Administration for launching Conservation.gov.

The website is a new public information hub built through an interagency partnership between the Department of the Interior, the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Commerce’s National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and the White House Council on Environmental Quality, for finding places to recreate outdoors or to volunteer on public lands, staying updated on conservation efforts across the country, and applying for financial assistance in support of conservation projects. Conservation.gov also houses a beta version of the new American Conservation and Stewardship Atlas, a tool that offers users the ability to view a wide range of scientific information, data, and knowledge on biodiversity, climate change impacts, and equity.

ORR President Jessica Wahl Turner said, “The launch of Conservation.gov marks a significant step forward in providing the public with information about places to recreate and funding for restoration and resilience projects across the country. These comprehensive resources serve as a much-needed hub for expanding equitable access to the outdoors and tracking local and national efforts to conserve our cherished lands, waters, and wildlife. With this atlas, we can now visually appreciate the scope of protected waters — already achieving the conservation of a third of our nation’s waters. This tool also shows positive progress and underscores the importance of continuing our efforts on land conservation and access. We believe that healthy public lands and waters are essential to ensuring that recreational outdoor activities can be enjoyed by all, now and in the future.”
