Outdoor Recreation Roundtable (ORR), the nation’s leading coalition of outdoor recreation associations, announced it will host the inaugural Outdoor Recreation Technology and Innovation Summit, taking place on September 16, 2025, in Washington, D.C.

This first-of-its-kind convening will bring together top outdoor recreation businesses, policymakers, agency and Congressional officials and technology leaders to spotlight state-of-the-art innovations designed to expand access, information and participation on America’s public lands and waters, while protecting these places for future generations.

“The Outdoor Recreation Technology and Innovation Summit is a testament to the momentum and collaboration shaping the future of our industry,” said Jessica Wahl Turner, President of Outdoor Recreation Roundtable. “With the groundbreaking bipartisan Expanding Public Lands Outdoor Recreation Experiences (EXPLORE) Act setting the stage, we will bring together visionary leaders from business and government to elevate technological innovations and partnerships that will help expand access for all Americans to experience the many lifelong benefits of outdoor recreation while growing our economy and protecting our these special places for future generations.”

U.S. Department of the Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, who just signed a Secretarial Order to implement the EXPLORE Act, will keynote and provide an update on progress being made to improve and modernize recreation infrastructure and access on federal public lands and waters. Bipartisan members of Congress and agency leaders will also participate including U.S. Senator John Hickenlooper (D-Col.), U.S. Department of Agriculture Deputy Under Secretary Kristin Sleeper, and National Park Service Comptroller Jessica Bowron.

Executives from the following leading outdoor and technology companies will be in attendance to share their expertise and goals for advancing outdoor recreation growth, participation, and conservation through technology and innovation: AllTrails, Booz Allen Hamilton, Hipcamp, iSportsman, Kampgrounds of America, Inc., National Forest Foundation, National Marine Manufacturers Association, National Park Foundation, Outdoor Industry Association, onX Maps, RV Dealers Association, TechNexus Venture Collaborative, Tyler Technologies, and Yamaha Motor Corp., USA.

The summit reflects ORR’s leadership in fostering public-private partnerships that harness technology to:

·      Enhance outdoor recreation access and experiences for all Americans;

·      Address the impacts of increased visitation and needs of rural communities;

·      Advance vital recreation and conservation management goals;

·      Ensure real-time information to guide visitors’ experiences and land managers’ decisions; and

·      Sustain growth across the $1.2 trillion outdoor recreation economy.
