It’s a fact: states that prioritize outdoor recreation create jobs, attract new businesses and residents, build healthy communities, connect their residents to the outdoors, and more. To help bolster these efforts, ORR is committed to helping states create Offices of Outdoor Recreation (ORECs) and ensuring existing ORECs succeed. Twenty-four states have created ORECs that serve as central champions for the outdoor recreation economy and grow its associated benefits. ORECs work on a broad range of issues, including economic development, outreach and partnerships, conservation, engagement, and much more.
