WASHINGTON, D.C. — September 25 — The Outdoor Recreation Roundtable (ORR) ahead of this year’s National Public Lands Day released a statement from President, Jessica Turner:
“National Public Lands Day is an opportunity to appreciate America’s shared outdoor heritage. Federal public lands and waters are the foundation of our $1.3 trillion outdoor recreation economy. Every day, access to outdoor recreation on federal public lands and waters contributes $351 million to our economy. In addition to being an economic engine, we know that access to outdoor recreation delivers health outcomes that no indoor or clinical intervention can fully replicate.
“As we celebrate National Public Lands Day, it is inspiring to see the ongoing commitment to these shared spaces. It is also an opportunity to highlight why passing the bipartisan American the Beautiful Act and reauthorizing the National Parks and Public Land Legacy Restoration Fund (LRF) as soon as possible is vital. This is the best way to ensure our public lands and waters remain cared for, accessible to future generations, and a driving force in our nation’s economy. Maintaining public lands for outdoor recreation is a high-yield investment for our nation and the health and wellbeing of all Americans.”
